The Mass General Brigham Liver Transplant Program brings together the expertise of world class clinicians from the system’s flagship hospitals – the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH). The combined expertise of these two institutions in collaboration with our colleagues across the Mass General Brigham network and New England allows us to provide comprehensive, coordinated care for liver patients throughout the region.

Overview:

Mass General Brigham and faculty from Harvard Medical School are proud to present a continuing education (CE) event titled "Updates in Liver Transplant and Hepatology." This comprehensive educational program aims to provide Gastroenterology (GI) providers with the latest advancements in liver transplantation and the management of patients with chronic liver disease.

Event Goals:

The primary goal of this CE event is to update clinicians on the cutting-edge developments in liver transplantation and hepatology. By doing so, participants will enhance their knowledge and skills in providing optimal care for patients with liver-related conditions. The event will cover a broad spectrum of topics including the latest in liver transplantation and management strategies for patients with cirrhosis, portal hypertension, and chronic liver disease.

This event is specifically designed for GI providers, including:

• Gastroenterologists, Hepatologists, and Surgeons
• Advanced Practice Providers
• Nurses
• Other health care professionals involved in the care of patients with liver diseases

• Review the role of liver transplantation in patients with cancer, alcohol-related liver disease, and congenital heart disease.
• Understand the role of bariatric surgery before and after liver transplantation.
• Review efforts to expand the donor pool and changes in the organ allocation system.
• Review the latest strategies for the management of complications of cirrhosis.
• Understand the role of new therapies in the treatment of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
• Review the latest strategies for treating primary biliary cholangitis (PBC).
• Review the management of viral hepatitis.
• Review the management of liver lesions.
