Nikolaos Zacharias, MD, MPH, RPVI, FSVS, FACS
Nikolaos Zacharias is a vascular surgeon in the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School. He is the Quality and Safety Director of our division. His area of practice is abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysms, carotid artery disease, peripheral vascular disease, mesenteric ischemic, thoracic outlet syndrome, hemodialysis access and venous disease. He is particularly interested in Quality Improvement projects and initiatives as well as clinical outcomes studies focusing on improving social disparities in patients with vascular disease, as well as developing health policies to assure health equity and exceptional outcomes in patient care. He is nationally known for his work in the Society for Vascular Surgery Performance Measures Committee. In the translational research field, he focuses on the creation of a peripheral tissue biobank performing RNA sequencing and identifying molecular pathways of atheromatic disease.
