Dr. Carl Fulwiler is chair and chief of the Harvard Department of Psychiatry at Cambridge Health Alliance, and associate professor in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. He previously served as vice chair for Research, Teaching, and Academia in the department, and prior to joining CHA in 2020, he was a professor of Psychiatry and Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He received his MD from Washington University in St. Louis, his PhD in Neuroscience from Harvard, and completed his residency in Psychiatry at McLean Hospital. His programmatic and research efforts on improving behavioral health outcomes for underserved populations have been funded by state and federal agencies, including the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, the MA Department of Mental Health, SAMHSA, NIH, and private foundations.
