Advancing Excellence in Sexual and Gender Minority Health Education: A Train-the-Trainer Course for All Health Care Professionals

This train-the-trainer program is designed to teach participants best practices in delivering sexual and gender minority health education to colleagues and trainees at their health care organization. Participants will learn how to teach sexual and gender minority concepts, terminology and health disparities and how to use relevant materials, activities and strategies to lead effective trainings. This course also focuses on creating inclusive and affirming processes and environments for learning about sexual and gender minority health and prioritizes intersectional and community-based participatory approaches.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

• Identify critical action steps, develop an implementation timeline, track their progress, and measure the effectiveness of their efforts in achieving their goals. 

• Participants with be able to tailor the content and process of SGM health educational programs responsibly for the specific culture and needs their health care workforce audience. 

• Participants will learn to deliver sexual and gender minority health training programs in inclusive and affirming environments. 

• Health care personnel will learn to incorporate principles of intersectionality and community-based participatory educational strategies into their sexual and gender minority health training.
